Ghost Coaster: The Star Jet Coaster 2002-2012 (2019)

Ghost coaster is a video work that uses found footage of the now destroyed Star Jet roller coaster to digitally reconstruction an experience that no longer exists. The wooden roller coaster was locally beloved. (Beloved enough to have had multiple people film themselves riding it and put it on youtube prior to 2012) In 2012, Hurricane Sandy wiped out most of the New Jersey shore in that area and took the boardwalk and the roller coaster out with it. The coaster was thrown into the ocean during the storm and destroyed. Using photogrammetry and the footage people shot of themselves on the ride prior to its demise, I reconstructed a first person view of the experience that no longer exists.
